Arvatkaa, kuka sekosi ja osti China Glazen koko Up & Away -kokoelman? Kyllä, minähän se... Up & Away on China Glazen 2010 kevätkokoelma ja sävymaailmaltaan kohtalaisen monipuolinen. Kaikki sävyt ovat koostumukseltaan creme-lakkoja.

Guess who went crazy and bought the whole China Glaze Up & Away Collection? Yeah, that would be me... Up & Away is China Glaze's spring 2010 collection and it has a nice variety of shades. All polishes are cremes.

Vanhojen tanssit -meikki osa 4 / The seniors' ball makeup part 4

Tämä vaaleanpunainen/violetti -meikki sopii esimerkiksi violetin tai vaaleanpunaisen puvun seuraksi.
This light pink/purple -makeup goes well with for example a purple or a pink dress.


Tähän meikkiin käytin 1) vaaleanpunaista Lorealin 50 Natural Pink -soloa (myydäänkö tätä vielä?), 2) vaaleaa liilaa Diorin Pearly Lilac -paletista, 3) violettia Diorin Pearly Lilac -paletista sekä 4) hyvin hennon vaaleanpunaista sävyä Diorin Pearly Lilac -paletista.

I used 1) light pink Loreal 50 Natural Pink solo (I'm not sure if this is available anymore), 2) light purple from Dior Pearly Lilac palette, 3) purple from Dior Pearly Lilac palette and 4) pale pink from Dior Pearly Lilac palette.


Vaihe 1: Levitä vaaleanpunaista (1) liikkuvan luomen sisänurkkaan, korkeussuunnassa myös luomivakoon ja hieman sen yli.
Phase 1: Apply light pink (1) to the inner corner of the lid and on vertical direction also to the crease and a bit above it.


Vaihe 2: Levitä liilaa (2) sävyä luomen keskiosaan, jälleen myös luomivakoon sekä hieman sen yli.
Phase 2: Apply light purple (2) to the middle of the lid and also to the crease and a bit above it.


Vaihe 3: Levitä violettia (3) ulkonurkkaan kolmion muotoisesti, luomiväriä tulee myös luomivakoon sekä hieman sen yläpuolelle.
Phase 3: Apply purple (3) to the outer corner, the shape should remind a triangle. The eyeshadow goes again a bit above the crease.


Vaihe 4: Lisää hempeän vaaleanpunaista (4) sävyä luomivaon yläpuolelle. Häivytä luomivärien rajat.
Phase 4: Apply pale pink (4) shade above the crease. Blend!


Vaihe 5: Levitä alaluomelle sisänurkkaan vaaleanpunaista (1), keskelle vaaleaa liilaa (2) ja ulkonurkkaan violettia (3). Sävyjen väliin ei ole tarkoitus jäädä luomivärittömiä kohtia huonosta esimerkkikuvasta huolimatta...
Phase 5: Apply to the lower lid: light pink (1) to the inner corner, light purple (2) to the middle and purple (3) to the outer corner. Despite of the lousy tutorial photo, there shouldn't be any eyeshadow-free spots between the shades...


Vaihe 6: Lisää musta ylärajaus, itse käytin Lumene Natural Code -sarjan mustaa rajauskynää.
Phase 6: Apply black eyeliner, I used Lumene Natural Code black eyeliner pencil.


Vaihe 7: Lisää ripsiväri ja halutessasi vaaleaa kajalia alas sisäluomelle.
Phase 7: Add mascara and if you want, light beige kohl to the inner lower lid.




Ripsivärinä on AVONilta saamani Anew Lash-Transforming Mascara + Serum -ripsiväri. Ripsivärin toisessa päässä on ripsiä vahvistava seerumi, toisessa päässä ripsiväri. Arvostelua tuotteesta saatte kunhan se loppuu. :)

My mascara is Anew Lash-Transforming Mascara + Serum by AVON, which AVON gave me to be tested. This mascara includes both a fortifying serum for lashes and a mascara. I'll review this for you once I have finished using this. :)

Vanhojen tanssit -meikki osa 3 / The seniors' ball makeup part 3

Hei taas kaikille pitkän tauon jälkeen! :) Tällä kertaa postauksen aiheena on pari yksinkertaista ja vaaleaa meikkiä vanhojen tansseihin.

Hello to everyone, I'm finally back after a long break! :) Today's post is a tutorial for two simple and light makeups that can be used in the seniors' ball, for example.


Ensimmäinen meikki: Vaaleanpunaisen ja kullan yhdistelmä sopii esimerkiksi ruskean tai vaaleanpunaisen puvun seuraksi, miksei myös tummemman punaisen mekon kanssa käytettäväksi.

Tähän meikkiin käytin 1) vaaleaa kultaa (Maybellinen solo 865, ei enää myynnissä), 2) vaaleaa vaaleanpunaista (Isadora Blooming Spring -paletista), 3) hieman tummempaa vaaleanpunaista (Maybelline solo 120 Pink Fizz) sekä 4) tummanruskeaa (MAC Magnetic Fields Neo Sci-fi -kokoelmasta, ei enää myynnissä).

The first makeup is a combination of light pink and light gold, this makeup can be used for example with a brown or light pink dress, why not also with a darker red dress.

I used 1) light gold (Maybelline solo 865, not available anymore), 2) really light pink (Isadora Blooming Spring -palette), 3) a bit darker light pink (Maybelline solo 120 Pink Fizz) and 4) dark brown (MAC Magnetic Fields from Neo Sci-fi collection, LE).


Vaihe 1: Levitä vaalean kultaista sävyä (1) liikkuvan luomen sisänurkasta puoliväliin asti.
Vaihe 2: Levitä vaaleaa vaaleanpunaista (2) liikkuvan luomen puolivälistä ulkonurkkaan asti.

Phase 1: Apply light gold (1) from the inner corner to the middle of the lid.
Phase 2: Apply really light pink (2) from the middle of the lid to the outer corner.


Vaihe 3: Tee luomivakoon banaanivarjostus hieman tummemmalla vaaleanpunaisella (3).
Phase 3: Apply a bit darker light pink (3) to the crease.


Vaihe 4: Lisää vaalean kultaista sävyä (1) banaanivarjostuksen yläpuolelle. Häivytä.
Phase 4: Apply light gold shade (1) above the crease. Blend.


Vaihe 5: Tee ylärajaus tummanruskealla rajauskynällä tai eyelinerilla ja pehmennä rajausta lisäämällä sen päälle tummanruskeaa luomiväriä (4).

Phase 5: Line the upper lid with a dark brown eyeliner pencil or liquid eyeliner, soften the line by applying dark brown eyeshadow (4) on top of it.


Vaihe 6: Lisää ripsiväri ja halutessasi vaaleaa kajalia alas sisäluomelle.

Phase 6: Add mascara and if you want, also some light beige kohl to the inner lower lid.


Toinen meikki: Tämä meikki yhdistää vaaleaa vihreää ja vaaleaa sinistä ja sopii esimerkiksi vaalean vihreän, mintun vihreä ja vaaleansinisen puvun seuraksi.

Tähän meikkiin käytin 1) vaaleaa vihreää Isadoran Blooming Spring -paletista, 2) vaaleaa sinistä vanhasta Isadoran Blue Turquoise -triosta (ei myydä enää), 3) NYX:n valkeaa soloa ES27 White pearl sekä 4) Maybellinen mustaa soloa 240 Night Sky (ei myydä ainakaan Suomessa).

The second makeup: This makeup combines light green and light blue and can be used for example with light green, mint green or light blue dress.

With this makeup I used 1) light green from Isadora Blooming Spring -palette, 2) light blue from Isadora Blue Turquoise trio (not available anymore), 3) white NYX solo ES27 White pearl and 4) Maybelline black solo 240 Night Sky (not available in Finland, I'm not sure if this is still available in other countries or not).


Vaihe 1: Levitä vaaleaa vihreää (1) liikkuvalle luomelle 2/3 matkalle sisänurkasta ulkonurkkaan päin. Luomiväri saa mennä hieman luomivaon ylikin.

Phase 1: Apply light green (1) to the upper lid to the first two thirds of the lid. The eyeshadow may go a bit above the crease.


Vaihe 2: Levitä vaaleaa sinistä (2) liikkuvan luomen ulkonurkkaan. Korkeussuunnassa luomiväri saa mennä hieman luomivaon yli.

Phase 2: Apply light blue (2) to the outer corner of the lid. In vertical direction the eyeshadow should go a bit above the crease.


Vaihe 3: Levitä valkeaa luomiväriä (3) luomivaon yläpuolelle, häivytä.
Phase 3: Apply white eyeshadow (3) above the crease, blend.


Vaihe 4: Lisää musta eyelinerrajaus.
Phase 4: Add black eyeliner.


Vaihe 5: Lisää mustaa luomiväriä (4) eyelinerin päälle sekä alaluomelle noin alaluomen ulkonurkasta luomen puoliväliin asti. Yläluomella luomiväriä kannattaa levittää myös eyelinerin yläpuolelle kevyesti häivyttämään rajaa tumman rajauksen ja vaalean liikkuvan luomen välillä.

Phase 5: Apply black eyeshadow (4) on top of the eyeliner and to the lower lid from the outer corner until the middle of the lower lid. On the upper lid black shade should be applied lightly also above the eyeliner to blend the line between black eyeliner and light eyeshadows on the lid.


Vaihe 6: Lisää vielä vaalean vihreää (tai vaalean sinistä) luomiväriä alaluomelle sisänurkasta mustaan rajaukseen asti.

Phase 6: Apply light green (or light blue) to the lower lid from the inner corner towards the black eyeshadow.

Vaihe 7: Lisää vaaleaa kajalia alaluomen sisäluomelle sekä ripsiväri. Pahoittelut surkeasta kuvasta, ehdin ottaa yhden testikuvan ja sitten kamerasta loppui virta.

Phase 7: Add light beige kohl to the lower inner lid and mascara. Sorry for the lousy photo, I only took one test photo and then my camera ran out of battery.

CND

Kynsilakkamerkki Creative on muuttanut nimensä CND:ksi ja sain CND:ltä testattavaksi pari heidän uutta kynsilakkaansa. CND:n valikoimaan kuuluu sekä colour- eli värilakkoja että effects- eli efektilakkoja. Kerrostamalla jonkin efektilakan haluamansa värilakan päälle saa luotua erilaisia sävyjä oman mielensä mukaan. Itse valitsin sekä efektilakaksi että värilakaksi kultaiset sävyt, joten näillä ei kerrostuksesta seuraa uudenlaista sävyä, mutta minkäs teet kun kultaiset lakat näyttivät niin herkullisilta...

Nail polish brand Creative has changed its name to CND. I was given an opportunity by CND to test a couple of their new polishes. They have a selection of colour polishes and effect polishes and by applying an effect polish on top of a colour polish you can create new shades. I chose a golden shade for both my effect and my colour polish so I can't create any new shades by combining these two, but I just had to pick these two as I love golden polishes...

Gold Chrome -värilakka on peittävä jo yhdellä kerroksella mutta laitoin kuitenkin kaksi kerrosta tottumuksesta. Lopputulos on jännä, ei kovin kiiltävä mutta ei myöskään matta, tästä tulee jollain tapaa mieleen kullanvärinen folio!

CND:n lakat on suunniteltu ammattilaiskäyttöön, joten ne eivät ole ihan pikakuivavia sillä hyvin nopeasti kuivuvat lakat eivät ole usein kovin kestäviä. CND on halunnut säilyttää lakan kestävyyden hyvänä, joten kuivumisaika yhdelle kerrokselle on noin 6-8 minuuttia. Itse sanoisin ensimmäisen kerroksen kuivuneen noin viidessä minuutissa, toisen kerroksen hieman hitaammin. Plussaa CND saa pullon muotoilusta, se istuu käteen yllättävän mukavasti, sekä kumisesta korkkimateriaalista, josta saa hyvän otteen. Lakan kestävyydestä en valitettavasti osaa sanoa mitään kummoisempaa, koska vaihdan lakkaa niin usein ettei lakka ehdi kovin paljoa joutua koetukselle. Sivellin on ok perussivellin, ei erinomainen mutta ei myöskään huono, ei kummoista sanottavaa.

Suomessa CND:n lakkoja myydään kynsisalongeissa, hintaa yhdellä pullolla on noin 20 euroa. Hinta on hieman turhan tyyris mielestäni, vaikka lakka vaikuttaakin hyvältä peruslakalta. Testailen myöhemmin vielä efektilakkaa, luultavasti mustan kynsilakan päälle. Vai minkä sävyisen lakan päällä haluaisitten nähdä sen?


Gold Chrome colour polish covers well even with one coat but I applied two as I usually do. The finish is interesting, not shiny and not matte but it kind of reminds me of a tin foil that is golden!

CND polishes are designed for professional use so they aren't super fast drying as really fast drying polishes often don't last as well. CND wants the polishes to last well without chipping so the drying time for one coat is something like 6-8 minutes. I think the first coat dried in about 5 minutes and that the second coat took a little longer. I liked the bottle design as the bottle is nice to hold in hand. The rubber material in the brush handle guarantees a nice grip. Brush itself is OK, it isn't perfect but not a bad one either, I don't have anything special to say about it.

CND polishes are sold in nail salons. In Finland they cost about 20 euros per bottle. The price is a bit too much although this is a good basic nail polish. I'll try the effect polish later, maybe on top of a black polish. Or do you have any suggestions on top of what colour you would like to see it?

Vanhojen tanssit -meikki osa 2 / The seniors' ball makeup part 2

Tässä toinen meikkiehdotus keltaisen vanhojen tanssit -puvun kanssa käytettäväksi. Tällä kertaa käytin meikissä persikkaa, vihreää ja hivenen tummaa kimaltavaa ruskeaa.

Here is another makeup option to be used with a yellow ball dress. This time I used peach, green and a bit of shimmering dark brown.



Persikka ja vaalea vihreä ovat Isadoran Blooming Spring -paletista, tummempi vihreä sekä kimaltava ruskea Lorealin triosta Babylon Gardens (tämä oli kausipaletti).

Peach and light green are from Isadora's Blooming Spring palette and darker green and shimmering brown are from Loreal's trio Babylon Gardens (this was a LE palette).



1. Aloitetaan jälleen pohjustamalla luomet, käytin itse taas Urban Decayn Primer Potionia.
1. Let's begin again with applying an eyeshadow primer, I used Urban Decay Primer Potion again.


2. Ensimmäiseksi levitetään persikkaista sävyä (1) liikkuvan luomen sisänurkkaan.
2. First apply peach shade (1) to the inner corner of the lid.


3. Levitä vaalean vihreää sävyä (2) luomen keskiosaan.
3. Apply light green shade (2) to the middle part of the lid.


4. Seuraavaksi lisää tummempaa vihreää (3) luomen ulkonurkkaan sivuttain olevan V-kirjaimen mallisesti, täytä V tummemmalla vihreällä.
4. Next apply darker green (3) to the outer corner of the eye, the shape is like a V that is on its side. Fill in the V with the darker green.


5. Levitä luomivaon yläpuolelle persikkaista sävyä (1). Häivytä luomivärien rajat.
5. Apply peach shade (1) above the crease. Blend the eye shadows.


6. Rajaa yläluomi mustalla eyelinerilla. Käytin Lumenen Blueberry-rajausväriä.
6. Line the upper lid with a black eyeliner. I used Lumene's Blueberry eyeliner.


7. Lisää rajauksen päälle hieman kimaltavaa ruskeaa luomiväriä (4) pehmentämään rajausta.
7. Apply a bit of shimmering brown eye shadow on top of the eyeliner to soften the line.


8. Meikkaa kulmakarvat haluamallasi tavalla, lisää ripsiväri (itselläni Loreal H.I.P, jota ei myydä Suomessa) ja halutessasi vaaleaa kajalia alas sisäluomelle kirkastamaan katsetta (itselläni Isadoran inner kajal sävyssä Blonde).
8. Style you eye brows as you want, add mascara (I'm wearing Loreal's H.I.P.) and if you want, add some light kohl to the lower inner lid (I have Isadora's kohl in shade Blonde).



Sekä tähän että eiliseen meikkiin yhdistäisin persikkaan taittavan poskipunan sekä persikkaisen huulikiillon.
I would use with both this and yesterday's makeup a peachy blush and peachy lip gloss.

Vanhojen tanssit -meikki osa 1 / The seniors' ball makeup part 1

Tässä ensimmäinen vanhojen tanssit -meikkitutorial. Tämä persikka-kultainen -meikki on suunniteltu keltaisen asun omistajalle, joka pyysi vinkkejä meikkiinsä. :)

Here is the first makeup tutorial for a seniors' ball makeup (a Finnish tradition in senior highschool). This makeup tutorial for a peach-golden -makeup is for the girl who is planning to wear a yellow dress and asked some makeup tips. :)


Tässä meikissä käytin vaaleaa kultaa, hieman tummempaa kultaa, vaaleaa persikkaa, tummempaa persikkaa ja tummaa ruskeaa. Kaikki sävyt ovat 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow -paletista (voi ostaa esim. Coastal Scentsistä).

In this makeup I used light gold, a bit darker gold, light peach, darker peach and dark brown. I used 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow palette (can be purchased for example from Coastal Scents).


1. Pohjusta luomet silmämeikin pohjustajalla (esim. Lumenen pohjustusaine, Urban Decay Primer Potion tms), jotta meikki kestää luomilla vaikka hikoilisit tanssiessasi. Itse käytin Urban Decayn pohjustajaa.
1. Do a base for the eye shadows using an eye shadow base (for example Lumene's base, Urban Decay Primer Potion etc) so the makeup will last even if you sweat when dancing. I used Urban Decay's primer.


2. Levitä vaalean kultaista luomiväriä (sävy 1) liikkuvan luomen sisänurkkaan ja siitä kohti luomen keskiosaa niin, että luomiväriä on noin luomen puoliväliin asti. Luomiväriä voi lisätä yli luomivaon eli melko korkealle.
2. Apply light golden eye shadow (shade 1) from the inner corner towards the middle of the lid so that there is eye shadow on the first half of the lid. You can apply the eye shadow so that it goes above the crease.


3. Lisää luomen puolivälistä ulkonurkkaan asti vaalean persikkaista sävyä (sävy 2). Älä lisää tätä sävyä luomivaon yläpuolelle.
3. Apply light peach shade from the middle of the lid until the outer corner (shade 2). Don't apply this shade above the crease.


4. Levitä luomivakoon tummempaa persikkaista sävyä (sävy 3). Laita luomiväriä vahvemmin ja leveämmin ulkonurkkaan ja kapeammin luomivaon sisänurkkaan.
4. Apply darker peach shade (shade 3) to the crease. Apply eye shadow stronger and thicker in the outer corner and lighter and more narrow in the inner corner of the crease.



5. Levitä luomivaon yläpuolelle noin luomen keskiosasta ulkonurkkaan asti kultaista sävyä eli sävyä 4 (luomivaon yläpuolella sisänurkassa on jo sävyä 1). Häivytä luomivärien rajat häivytyssiveltimellä. Jos haluat, voit vielä lisätä kulmaluulle vaalean kultaista sävyä 1, itse jätin sen tässä pois.
5. Apply above the crease from the middle towards the outer corner of the eye golden shade number 4 (above the crease in the inner corner there is already shade 1). Blend the eye shadows with a blending brush. If you want, you can apply light gold shade 1 to the brow bone, I left it out.


6. Rajaa yläluomi tummanruskealla sävyllä 5.
6. Line the upper lid with dark brown shade 5.

7. Muotoile kulmat haluamallasi tavalla ja lisää ripsiväri (itselläni Lorealin H.I.P. jota ei myydä Suomessa). Lisäsin itse myös vaaleaa kajalia alas sisäluomelle kirkastamaan katsetta, käytin Isadoran inner kajalia sävyssä Blonde.
7. Style your eye brows as you want and add mascara. I also added light kohl pencil on the lower inner lid to brighten up the look. My mascara is Loreal's H.I.P. and kohl is Isadora's kohl in shade Blonde.
