Tutorial: Dior Graphic Lights

Hei kaikille! :) Kesäkuun lopun kiireet ja heinäkuun alun matka ovat nyt ohitse ja helteistäkin olen ehtinyt nauttia, joten on aika tehdä pitkästä aikaa uusi blogipostaus. Tällä kertaa kaivelin arkistojen kätköistä aiemmin talvella/keväällä kuvaamani tutorialkuvat Diorin Graphic Lights -luomiväripaletille.

Hello everyone! :) I was busy in the end of June and in the beginning of July I was abroad but now it is finally time to post a new blog post for you. This time I'll share with you the tutorial photos for Dior Graphic Lights eyeshadow, I took these photos already last winter/spring.

Dior Graphic Lights on kesän 2009 kokoelmasta ja se on limited edition -paletti. Sitä voi vielä varmaankin bongailla nettikaupoista/Ebaysta, muistelisin ainakin keväällä nähneeni tätä vielä Ebayssa. Tässä ensin swatch paletista:

Vaihe 1: Pohjusta luomet luomivärejä varten. Pohjustukseen voit käyttää luomivärin pohjustusainetta (esim. Urban Decayn Primer Potion, Lumenen silmämeikin pohjustaja tai muu vastaava) tai pohjustusaineen puuttuessa esimerkiksi meikkivoide+puuteri -yhdistelmää. Itse olen laittanut tässä pohjustusaineen päälle vielä vaaleanpunaista voidemaista luomiväriä (en valitettavasti yhtään muista, mikä tuote on kyseessä). Voidemaisen luomivärin avulla voi tehdä lopputuloksesta intensiivisemmän, sillä voidemainen luomiväri korostaa puuterimaisen luomivärin sävyä. Jos sinulla on siis ongelmia luomivärin pigmentin kanssa, kokeile laittaa samansävyistä tai suht samansävyistä voidemaista luomiväriä puuterimaisen luomivärin alle. Myös erisävyisiä voidemaisia pohjustajia voi kokeilla, niiden avulla voi joskus saada aikaan kivojakin erilaisia sävy-yhdistelmiä kun ne muuttavat puuterimaisen luomivärin sävyä jonkin verran.

Phase 1: Use primer on your eye lids, for example Urban Decay Primer Potion or Lumene's primer. If you don't have a primer, you can use for example liquid makeup foundation + powder on top of it. I have also added some creme eye shadow to the lid, shade is light pink (I can't remember what brand this is, sorry!). Creme eye shadow intensifies the shades of the powder eye shadows.


Vaihe 2: Levitä silmän sisänurkasta liikkuvan luomen puoliväliin asti sävyä numero 1.
Phase 2: Apply shade number 1 from the inner corner of the eye towards the middle of the lid.


Vaihe 3: Levitä sävyä 2 liikkuvan luomen puolivälistä luomen ulkonurkkaan asti. Voit myös vaihtaa sävyjen 1 ja 2 paikkaa, jos haluat, ja laittaa sävyä 2 sisänurkkaan ja sävyä 1 ulkonurkkaan.
Phase 3: Apply shade 2 from the middle of the lid towards the outer corner. If you prefer, you can also change the order and use shade 2 in the inner corner and shade 1 in the outer corner.


Vaihe 4: Levitä paletin tumminta sävyä eli sävyä 5 luomivakoon.
Phase 4: Use the darkest shade (number 5) in the crease.


Vaihe 5: Lisää vaaleaa hohtavaa sävyä numero 4 luomivaon yläpuolelle, häivytä.
Phase 5: Add shade 4, which is a light and shimmery shade, above the crease. Blend well.


Vaihe 6: Jos haluat, tee ylärajaus. Jos haluat meikistä hyvin kevyen, jätä rajaus pois. Itse käytin tässä versiossa mustaa ylärajausta, jossa on ensin laitettu nestemäistä mustaa eyelineriä ja sen päälle vielä mustaa rajauskynää.
Phase 6: If you like, line the upper lid. If you want a really light look, leave the liner away. I used some black liquid eyeliner and on top of it I added some black eyepencil.


Vaihe 7: Tee alarajaus paletin hopeisella sävyllä numero 3. Jos haluat vahvemman lopputuloksen, lisää myös musta sisärajaus.
Phase 7: Line you lower lid with the silver shade marked with number 3. If you want more intense makeup, add also kohl to the inner lower lid.


Vaihe 8: Lisää ripsiväri. Valmis!
Phase 8: Add mascara. Done!

Dior Ready to Glow & Crush Glow swatch

Vertailun vuoksi Diorin kesälookin paletit Ready to Glow ja Crush Glow samassa swatch-kuvassa. Sävyjä on laitettu kädelle hyvin kevyesti (ei siis kerrostettu) ja kuva on otettu luonnonvalossa sisätiloissa. Crush Glow on kokonaisuutena Ready to Glow:ta lämpimämpi ja luovuinkin siitä itse, koska vaikka neljä ensimmäistä sävyä ovatkin kauniit niin viimeinen ruskea sävy on todella epäsopiva sävy itselleni. Lämpimämmän sävyisellä iholla toimii varmasti paremmin. :)

Swatch comparison of Dior's summer look palettes Ready to Glow and Crush Glow. Shades have been applied lightly and photo is taken indoors in natural light. Crush Glow has warmer shades than Ready to Glow and althought the first four shades of Crush Glow are pretty the darkest brown was so unflattering to my skin tone that I decided to sell this palette away. It will certainly look better on someone who has warmer skin tone than I do. :)

Dior Purple Crystal & Pearly Lilac vertailu/comparison

Lupasin eräälle lukijalle vertailua Diorin Purple Crystal ja Pearly Lilac -paleteista. Purple Crystal ilmestyi Holiday Look -kokoelmassa vuonna 2009 ja Pearly Lilac Cristal Collection kesäkokoelmassa myös vuonna 2009. Omasta mielestäni paletit ovat suorastaan ällistyttävän samankaltaisia, etenkin kun ottaa huomioon että ne vielä julkaistiin puolen vuoden välein!

I promised to one of my readers that I would compare Dior Purple Crystal and Pearly Lilac palettes. Purple Crystal is from the Holiday Look 2009 and Pearly Lilac from the Cristal Collection summer look 2009. Personally I find these two palettes confusingly similar, particularly when considered that these were released in the same year!


Kuten vertailukuvasta huomaa, paletit voisi hyvin helposti sekoittaa toisiinsa.
As you can see from this comparison photo, it is very easy to get confused which palette is which.

Here is a swatch of both of the palettes. Photo has been taken in natural light on a cloudy weather.

Vaalein sävy on Pearly Lilacissa pigmenttisempi ja parempi kuin Purple Crystalissa. Purple Crystalin vaalein sävy on sangen hailakka ja huono pigmentiltään. Toiseksi vaalein sävy on molemmissa yhtä pigmenttinen ja hyvä, keskimmäinen sävy puolestaan on molemmissa taas hailakka ja melko huonopigmenttinen. Neljännessä sävyssä on paremmin pigmenttiä molemmissa paleteissa, samoin tummin sävy on hyvä pigmentiltään. Vaalein ja toiseksi vaalein sävy ovat todella samanlaisia kummassakin paletissa, eli hohtava viileä valkoinen ja hyvin vaalea hohtava vaaleanpunainen. Keskimmäinen sävy on hohtavampi Purple Crystalissa kuin Pearly Lilacissa ja Purple Crystalin sävy on hieman violetimpi. Neljäs ja viides sävy ovat selvästi viileämpiä Purple Crystalissa kuin Pearly Lilacissa, Pearly Lilacin sävyt taittavat enemmän punaiseen kun taas Purple Crystalin siniseen.

The lightest shade of Pearly Lilac is more pigmented than the lightest shade of Purple Crystal, in which this shade is actually really bad when considering the amount of pigment. The second shade has a good amount of pigment in both of the palettes. The middle shade has about the same amount of pigment in both palettes, not very much. The fourth shade is about as pigmented in Purple Crystal than in Pearly Lilac and the darkest shade is as pigmented in both of the palettes as well. What comes to the shades, the two lightest shade are pretty much the same: shimmery cool white and light shimmery pink. The light purple is more shimmery in Purple Crystal than in Pearly Lilac and it looks more purple in Purple Crystal. The fourth shade is clearly cooler in Purple Crystal and warmer in Pearly Lilac. Also the darkest shade is much warmer in Pearly Lilac and cooler in Purple Crystal.

Vanhojen tanssit -meikki osa 4 / The seniors' ball makeup part 4

Tämä vaaleanpunainen/violetti -meikki sopii esimerkiksi violetin tai vaaleanpunaisen puvun seuraksi.
This light pink/purple -makeup goes well with for example a purple or a pink dress.


Tähän meikkiin käytin 1) vaaleanpunaista Lorealin 50 Natural Pink -soloa (myydäänkö tätä vielä?), 2) vaaleaa liilaa Diorin Pearly Lilac -paletista, 3) violettia Diorin Pearly Lilac -paletista sekä 4) hyvin hennon vaaleanpunaista sävyä Diorin Pearly Lilac -paletista.

I used 1) light pink Loreal 50 Natural Pink solo (I'm not sure if this is available anymore), 2) light purple from Dior Pearly Lilac palette, 3) purple from Dior Pearly Lilac palette and 4) pale pink from Dior Pearly Lilac palette.


Vaihe 1: Levitä vaaleanpunaista (1) liikkuvan luomen sisänurkkaan, korkeussuunnassa myös luomivakoon ja hieman sen yli.
Phase 1: Apply light pink (1) to the inner corner of the lid and on vertical direction also to the crease and a bit above it.


Vaihe 2: Levitä liilaa (2) sävyä luomen keskiosaan, jälleen myös luomivakoon sekä hieman sen yli.
Phase 2: Apply light purple (2) to the middle of the lid and also to the crease and a bit above it.


Vaihe 3: Levitä violettia (3) ulkonurkkaan kolmion muotoisesti, luomiväriä tulee myös luomivakoon sekä hieman sen yläpuolelle.
Phase 3: Apply purple (3) to the outer corner, the shape should remind a triangle. The eyeshadow goes again a bit above the crease.


Vaihe 4: Lisää hempeän vaaleanpunaista (4) sävyä luomivaon yläpuolelle. Häivytä luomivärien rajat.
Phase 4: Apply pale pink (4) shade above the crease. Blend!


Vaihe 5: Levitä alaluomelle sisänurkkaan vaaleanpunaista (1), keskelle vaaleaa liilaa (2) ja ulkonurkkaan violettia (3). Sävyjen väliin ei ole tarkoitus jäädä luomivärittömiä kohtia huonosta esimerkkikuvasta huolimatta...
Phase 5: Apply to the lower lid: light pink (1) to the inner corner, light purple (2) to the middle and purple (3) to the outer corner. Despite of the lousy tutorial photo, there shouldn't be any eyeshadow-free spots between the shades...


Vaihe 6: Lisää musta ylärajaus, itse käytin Lumene Natural Code -sarjan mustaa rajauskynää.
Phase 6: Apply black eyeliner, I used Lumene Natural Code black eyeliner pencil.


Vaihe 7: Lisää ripsiväri ja halutessasi vaaleaa kajalia alas sisäluomelle.
Phase 7: Add mascara and if you want, light beige kohl to the inner lower lid.




Ripsivärinä on AVONilta saamani Anew Lash-Transforming Mascara + Serum -ripsiväri. Ripsivärin toisessa päässä on ripsiä vahvistava seerumi, toisessa päässä ripsiväri. Arvostelua tuotteesta saatte kunhan se loppuu. :)

My mascara is Anew Lash-Transforming Mascara + Serum by AVON, which AVON gave me to be tested. This mascara includes both a fortifying serum for lashes and a mascara. I'll review this for you once I have finished using this. :)

Dior Myriad tutorial 3

Tässä viimeinen Diorin Myriad-paletilla tehty tutorial. Paletin lisäksi käytin NYXin tummansinistä rajauskynää sävyssä Sapphire, Max Factorin valkeaa kajalkynää, Shiseidon Ash Blond -kulmakynää sekä Too Facedin Faux Fur Electric Lash Mascaraa.

Here is third and last of my Dior Myriad tutorials. In this makeup I used also dark blue eyeliner pencil (NYX Sapphire), Max Factor's white kohl, Shiseido's eyebrow pencil in Ash Blond and Too Faced's Faux Fur Electric Lash Mascara.


Aluksi pohjustin luomet meikkivoiteella ja puuterilla ja meikkasin kulmakarvat valmiiksi.

Here's what I began with: foundation and powder on lids and eyebrows done with eyebrow pencil.


Tein sekä ylä- että alaluomelle rajauksen tummansinisellä rajauskynällä.

I lined both my upper and lower lid with dark blue eyeliner pencil.



Sitten laitoin yläluomelle Myriadin sävyä viisi eli tumminta sinistä. Lisäksi laitoin samaa sävyä ohuesti alarajauksen päälle.

After this I applied Myriad's shade 5 (the darkest blue) to the upper lid. I also added this same shade over the lower lid's blue eyeliner.


Tämän yläpuolelle sekä osittain päälle lisäsin sävyä 4.

Above and also a bit over the dark blue I applied shade 4.



Sitten sävyä 1 taas edellisen sävyn yläpuolelle sekä osittain edellisen sävyn päälle.

Next shade 1 above the previous shade and also a bit over it.


Jatketaan samalla tavalla, nyt sävyä 2 edellisten sävyjen yläpuolelle ja hieman edellisen sävyn päälle jotta sävyt sekoittuvat toisiinsa.

Continue the same way, apply now shade 2 above the previous shade and also a bit over it so that the shades mix.


Lopuksi sävyä 3 kulmaluulle.

At last, apply shade 3 to the browbone.


Lisää ripsiväri sekä valkeaa kajalia alas sisäluomelle. Valmis!

Add some mascara to your lashes and some white kohl to your lower inner lid. Ready!

Dior Myriad tutorial 2

Tarkoituksena oli jatkaa Diorin Myriad-tutorialeja jo viime viikolla, kuten lupasin, mutta en sitten ehtinytkään. Pahoitteluni! Tässä kuitenkin seuraava Myriad-meikki. Käytetyt meikit ovat Diorin Myriad-paletti, Shiseidon Ash Blond -kulmakynä, NYX:n sininen rajauskynä Sapphire sekä Too Facedin Faux Fur Electric Lash -mascara. Tässä vielä muistutukseksi kuva paletista ja numeroidut sävyt helpottamaan oikean sävyn löytämistä.

I was planning to continue Dior Myriad tutorials already last week, as I had promised, but I didn't have time to do that after all. My apologies! Here is at last my next Myriad makeup. I used Myriad 5 couleur eyeshadow palette by Dior, Shiseido Ash Blond eyebrow pencil, NYX eyeliner pencil Sapphire and Too Faced Faux Fur Electric Lash -mascara. As a reminder, here is a photo of the palette and shades are numbered in order to help to know what shade to use.


Tässä lähtöpiste, eli pohjustetut luomet. Kulmakarvoissa on jo kulmakynää.

Here is what I began with, I have foundation and powder on my lids. I also have done my eyebrows already.


Ensin laitoin liikkuvalle luomelle sävyä 2 luomen sisänurkasta luomen puoliväliin asti.

First I applied shade number 2 to the upper lid from inner corner to approximately the middle of the lid.


Tämän jälkeen laitoin sävyä 1 sävyn 2 yläpuolelle sisänurkasta ulkonurkkaan päin luomivaon myötäisesti. Sävyä 1 ei tarvitse lisätä luomivaon loppuun asti.

After this I applied shade number 1 above shade number 2 from inner corner towards the end of the crease. It is not necessary to apply this shade to the end of the crease.


Sitten sävyä 4 liikkuvalle luomelle luomen puolivälistä ulkonurkkaan asti.

Next I used shade 4 in the lid from the middle of the lid towards the outer corner.


Seuraavaksi laitoin sävyä 5 luomivakoon sävyn 1 jatkoksi noin puolivälistä ulkonurkkaan asti.

Then I applied shade 5 to the crease from the middle of the crease towards the end of it.


Sitten laitoin sävyä 3 kulmaluulle.

After this I applied shade 3 to the brow bone.


Seuraavaksi häivytin luomivärien rajoja. Jos haluat tummemman ja selvärajaisemman meikin, älä häivytä rajoja juuri lainkaan. Jos taas haluat hieman vaaleamman kokonaisuuden, häivytä enemmän. Itse häivytin rajoja ehkä hieman liikaakin, mutta toisaalta tämä oli päivämeikkini.

Next I blended the shades with each others. If you prefer a darker makeup where the different shades show clearly, don't blend that much. I think I blended the shades maybe a bit too much, but well, this was my day look.


Rajasin vielä yläluomen tummansinisellä NYX rajauskynällä sävyssä Sapphire.

I lined my upper lid with dark blue NYX eyeliner pencil in the shade Sapphire.


Lopuksi lisäsin vielä ripsivärin. Tällä kertaa jätin alaluomen ilman meikkiä, mutta halutessaan alaruomen voi rajata luomivärillä tai kynällä. Esimerkiksi jos tekee tämän meikin iltameikiksi, alaluomelle sopii hyvin tummansininen rajaus yläluomen rajauksen seuraksi.

Finally I added some mascara. This time I left my lower lid without makeup, but if wanted, eyeshadow or eyeliner can be added to the lower lid as well. For example if this makeup is used as an evening look, add dark blue eyeliner on the lower lid as well.
